We are once again partnering with UNC Center on Poverty, Work and Opportunity and the Campus Y to put on a bigger and better Poverty Awareness Week. The film will be screened on
Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at 7pm at the Student Union Auditorium on UNC-Campus. Howard Fuller, former Durham community organizer and educator who is featured prominently in the film, will be joining us for several activities around the issue of poverty and education. On April 1, he will participate in a discussion following the screeing of thef ilm. On April 3, he will appear on the State of Things on WUNC at noon, and later that day will deliver the keynote address for Poverty Awareness Week. Hope you can join us for this very special event!
We have also been invited to take part in a conference sponsored by the N.C. Community Action Association, which includes many of the Community agencies, originally started by the NC Fund. The conference runs from May 18-22, and will be in Raleigh, North Carolina. Check back for more information. We are very excited about this screening, which will be followed by a 30 minute dialogue because we see it as a great opportunity to create relationships with organizations doing anti-poverty work across the state. No comments
